When I was young, I loved to try and create things with fabric, anything that had to do with color and texture held my interest. By high school I was making my own clothes - even my own prom dress - it was beautiful! Against all odds, my hobby fast became a passion that carried over into adulthood.
When my boys were very young I began to design and make children's clothing - my head was always filled with ideas, colors, textures and patterns that I loved to turn into tangible creations. So I started my own business in 1980 "Kathleen's Klothes for Kids", where my creations were sold at home parties and in local stores like Lady Madonna in Perrysburg and the Muppet Store in Waterville. My sons were the best dressed kids in Perrysburg.
Once my youngest son started school, Jones & Company Custom Embroidery was born. Launched in 1991 out of my basement, I eventually moved out of my home in 2003 for a retail venture in Perry's Landing, then moving in 2006 to our retail location on Louisiana Avenue for 7 years. Then finally full circle back to my home in 2013 to focus on personalized service.
With a lifetime of sewing experience and expertise, I have a good understanding of how fabrics work and have taken the time to learn how to build a design for different fabric types. A woven fabric will sew differently than a knit. It's important to know what type of backing and needle size should be used for each type of fabric. Because of my background in sewing, I have a better idea of what graphics will interpret well into embroidery.
All sewing is done in-house and we specialize in helping customers create that perfect gift for special occasions and corporate events. We also specialize in bridal, baby, and corporate apparel, as well as our unique corporate gift service. Customers are always welcome to bring in their own new items to be custom embroidered.
